USE UNIVERSAL ANDROOT 1ST AND THEN USE ROM MANAGER TO FLASH A CUSTOM RECOVERY IMAGE FOR YOU. **PLEASE NOTE, I HAVE TESTED THIS METHOD ON A MYTOUCH 3G NOT A G1 BUT THE RESULTS SHOULD BE THE SAME.
