I put Android Froyo ROM on my HD2, because I did not like how Windows Mobile and HTC sense was working. Here is the first reaction to utilizing it for a couple of days. mattc 1.5

Android exhilaration sure is in the air these days. And the anticipation seems to be growing by the minuteAdding to the excitement now is Verizon’s mystifying proclamation of its forthcoming Droid smartphone. The phone, thought to be a Motorola device formerly codenamed Sholes, was revealed via a enlivened TV ad and accompanying teaser web site set in motion this weekend. What you need to know * The phone is only .5” thick. * It weighs a little over 4 oz., but still feels solid. * It has a 3.2” touch screen with touch-sensitive buttons and a trackball. * Android has gotten really good at auto-complete, so it works about as well as the iPhone. * There’s haptic feedback while typing. * My only gripe is the slow accelerometer when turning it sideways. * Other than that, we don’t mind not having a physical keyboard. * It isn’t running the latest version of Android like the Motorola Droid and the touch screen isn’t as big, but it’s accurate and easy to use just like we’d expect from an Android HTC phone. * There’s even multi-touch, which the Motorola Droid doesn’t have. * The interface is quick and customizable with the HTC Sense feature; lots of home screens, widgets, and shortcuts. * On the whole, it’s not as fast as the Motorola Droid, but it’s still great. * The browser is solid; it supports Flash Lite and multi-touch, but you still might have a few problems with more intense sites. * The 5 megapixel camera is a little shortcoming; there’s no flash and picture quality is average. * You can record video too. * The Android market is growing fast and it’s second only to the iPhone app store in content and ease of use. * It has a Micro SD slot. * The droid phone also has Wi-Fi.
